NYS Dep. of Health Says it Needs a Few More Weeks

Print PDF

Dear Friends and Natural Gas Supporters,

Attached below are statements from DEC Commissioner Martens and Department of Health Commissioner Shah. Commissioner Shah says he still needs a few weeks to complete the health review. DEC says if DOH finds that the SGEIS adequately addresses health concerns, the SGEIS can be adopted and permits issued 10 days later.

We are extremely disappointed that after 4 1/2 years, the state failed to meet another deadline. The JLCNY will be monitoring these issues on a daily basis and will continue to evaluate our plans to commence a lawsuit against the state.

Warm Regards,
Dan Fitzsimmons, President

Shah is going to come back in three weeks and state that all three studies are incomplete and , he will need more time as you cannot use incomplete studies, the only way for drilling to move forward is COUMO HAS TO GO, HE JUST PLAIN AND SIMPLE HAS TO GO, HE IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN.

gas drilling will NOT resume under Cuomo.

and he has the gall to mock us with his current TV budget ad that says "jobs, jobs, jobs" for upstate. he, Martens, and Shah have all been drinking the RFK Jr/NRDC/Park Foundation Kool-Aid.

Shah will stretch this 11th hour "health study" from "a few weeks" to about 6 months. and let's not forget about the next circus public "hearing" and 45 day comment period where the antis will dump another 250K pages of bogus paper (from all over the world) on the DEC. so that's another year out, and THEN Cuomo will decide HVHF is too dangerous and ban it, despite mountains of evidence to the contrary.

and/or in the mean time Martens will permit a well prior to the SGEIS issuance as a setup to get the antis their open-ended court ordered drilling injunction.

we can't force them to allow HVHF but we can now show a pattern of financial damage for purely political reasons.

You're right on the mocking. And let's not forget his tax cap, which allowed my school taxes to increase by 10%! He's too busy being (Lady) Gaga over Yoko; a latter-day Nero, fiddling with the Hollywood set while Upstate rots away. And yes, Martens will allow 'a' well, if only to try to head off a takings claim. If they can pretend to do somwthing while continuing to do nothing, their hope is we won't notice..
